The Journey of a Dreamer: A Call for Support
Imagine a kid from the poorest country in the world. She grew up dreaming of a better life, envisioning a future where she could rise above her circumstances. However, life had other plans. By the age of 15, she had become an orphan, navigating an identity crisis and grappling with immense loss.
But her journey was far from over. One day, she made it to a beautiful land. With hope in her heart, she believed that her struggles would be over in this new place. Yet, upon arrival, she realized that she had carried all her childhood trauma, self-rejection, fear of success, and very low self-esteem with her. The new land didn’t magically erase her past; instead, it brought her face to face with it. She had no idea how to be free from all of it.
In her desperation, she began to pray fervently, seeking solace and guidance. And then, someone showed up. They quickly fell in love and got married. She thought all her dreams would finally come true. She imagined her children would be proud of her, that the world—including her only remaining parent—would applaud her, cheer for her, and bless her. She hoped that all her pain would be forgotten and her heart would be happy.
But life took another unexpected turn. Seven years into the marriage, her husband decided to walk away. She was left as a single mother of two little boys. Instead of succumbing to despair, she found strength within herself. She not only raised her children but also became a role model for many by sharing her story with honesty and vulnerability.
Her story inspired others. People came to her for wisdom, and as she shared her journey, she gained confidence. She became so confident that she started a project she called “Second Chance Farm.” This farm was more than a business; it was a beacon of hope for refugees and immigrants like herself.
She reached out to her community. She spoke to many, but only a few supported her publicly. From a community, Few people stood by her and we will call these people the “Fearless Second Chance Supporters.” Others called her privately, expressing their support without taking public action; we call them the “Second Chance Spectacles.” The majority watched from the sidelines; these are the “No Comment” crowd.
Now, I have a question for you. If you knew this person, and you had to be in one of these categories, which one would you choose to be in? Remember, what goes around comes around, and everyone will reap what they sow.
By the way, in case you wonder who this woman is—it is me. I am about to rewrite my story and help millions of other people find a place where they truly belong. I am Vestine Furniss, and I am asking for your support.
